Skydiving in Wanaka, New Zealand

Hello mello,

I probably should have been updating more considering that I’ve been recycling old post from my old blog. Haha. Oh come on, bet you haven’t read most of it yet anyway.

So to pimp my blog with a more updated travel post, I’m going to write about my skydiving trip in Wanaka, New Zealand.

Initially, I’ve decided against my decision to join Karen and Tim for it after I dreamt of myself falling from high place just days before our New Zealand trip. I’m really superstitious so I thought that it was actually a sign to warn me from going ahead with it.

But when we reached NZ, I was totally in love with the view and everything that nature has to offer there. Imagine walking into a postcard. It was breath taking.

That was the only thing I thought about when we touched down at Christchurch. But when we reached Queenstown, I decided to do it anyway. I know I’ll regret it if I don’t.

I must say it ended almost as quickly as it started.

Was I scared? I believed that I wasn’t but looking back at the pictures and our collective videos. I looked stoned and stunned. What really went through my mind when I was on the plane waiting to get to 12,000 feet before letting a dude that I have never met prior to that, take control and decide when to take the plunge (possibly ending my life)?

Wow, the view is beautiful. Why is my heart not beating fast? Is it going to be scary? Why am I not scared?
I was deep in thoughts most of the time but honestly speaking, who knows.

Yeah I’m just being dramatic now.

I can’t remember shit. All I know is that I was in a pretty ugly orange jumpsuit (prisoner looking type), strapped up and strapped to a dude and then it was jumping time and half the time I was thinking, “Shit, I am going to look like this in my pics and videos?”

I remember being depressed over a few things in life weeks before that and I remember not being able to concentrate in anything I do apart from whining and well, feeling depressed. And I told myself that this trip to NZ and the jump would be a brand new start for me.

Then of course I changed my mind after I got that horrible dream of me falling from great heights with a fire fighter in a cart. Yes, cart. Don’t ask me why. It’s a dream. It’s meant to not make any sense.

We get to write messages on our palms for the dive. I wrote “FTS” and “Whee” then Karen said, “Why not WTF? It’s so you.” So I got greedy and wrote “WTF” as well.
Bad idea. There were too much going on on my palm.

Still, no regrets. Face super out of shape though!

Basically after you leap off the plane, you will be grasping for air but because we had the video guy there we tried to smile and show our palms to the camera. After that I was just trying to compose my face. My face was basically all over the place and I can barely shut my mouth. Bad times. That showed in my video too.

So sad.

Anywayyou probably won’t get to see those parts. If I’m gonna post it here at all, I’ll edit those parts away.

We went to explore Wanaka after sky diving. And this is Lake Wanaka.

Cute girl eating ice cream whilst her dad took her picture.

I can look at this view everyday.

What about a hand shake?

Another cute kid. Not a fan of kids but I super wish I can have a ang moh baby.

That is all for now.
Goodnight peeps! xx

Langkawi - Underwater World

The last time I was in Langkawi, it must have been when I was 9 years old.  I remember visiting the Underwater World then. And I thought that it was massive.

Actually, now that I think of it, all Underwater Worlds in the world are kind of the same. But I just can't resist them. I love looking at all these colourful fish from the sea and not to mention, super cute penguins. This Underwater World in Langkawi is just a smaller version of the one I visited in Barcelona. So, it's really not that bad! :)

Admission fees for adults is RM28 (Malaysians) and RM38 (non-Malaysians). For once, I feel slightly more privileged being a Malaysian wtf.

Okay, I don't have much to say about it but below are the highlights of my trip at the Underwater World in Langkawi. It's pretty worth it!

One weekend in Hong Kong

As I'm typing out this post, I'm actually on a plane ride from Hong Kong back to Malaysia. My 3 days trip here this time has proven to be very different from 2 of my previous trips here.

This time I get to experience strolling the local streets, malls and train rides. Well, thanks to my very lovely semi-local tour guide. :)

To be honest, I felt slightly overwhelmed by the amount of people on the streets. People here walked faster, talked louder and are more stressed out than us Malaysians. But I totally loved how convenient everything was. Everything was just around the corner. Walking distance. It reminded me of Singapore except busier and less clean, thanks to the mainlanders.

It also reminded me of the time when I lived in Bristol city center. I can always do without the driving but who am I trying to kid? I hate public transportation. But I massively loved the convenience. So I can't make up my mind just yet.

If you've followed me on my previous blog you'd know that I raved a lot about this mega awesome Korean restaurant in Cardiff. It's called Yaki Niku or some just call it Seoul House.

To me that's undeniably the best Korean food I've ever tasted. I don't mean to exaggerate but I've tried many Korean places in Malaysia and nothing compares to it. Even my baby sister said the same when I brought her there when she came to visit me for my graduation ceremony at 2008. So I can't be that biased right? Right?

One of the many highlights of this trip is this Korean restaurant, Myung Ga situated at iSquare that J brought me to for dinner last night. I didn't have any expectations as I've already decided that nothing beats Yaki Niku for me. I'm loyal like that wtf.

So, I was happy to dine anywhere and eat anything. I let J do all the ordering since I'm really easy going with food. I do like Korean bbq so it can't really go very wrong for me.

We ordered the set meal for two with an additional meat which was really too much for the both of us cos we couldn't finish our food. So, unless you can eat a lot, don't order anything else on top of the set meal or just go ala carte.

The service was very good and very fast. The waiter did the initial bbqing for us and we get to do the rest. Fun fun!

I was very surprised when I tasted the meat. It was almost as good as Yaki Niku. So I was really happy to have finally found a close match to my favourite Korean restaurant in the world without having to fly 13 hours to get there.

I didn't manage to take many pictures as I was really enjoying my company. So here are some. The view from where we sat overlooked the Avenue Of Stars by Tsim Sa Tsui. Well, just about anyway.

Okay, I've just landed. Gonna click publish when I get home later or tomorrow. Whatever. Xxx

Where to stay at Shrewsbury, UK?

Written on the 29.01.2009

The Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel was apparently the best hotel Shrewbury can offer.

It's a huge lovely looking cottage-like hotel with a lake right in front of it. The outside of the hotel were decorated (can't think of a better word!) with trees and plants. It was very pretty.

The interior however, was something like what you'd see in Harry Potter movies. There were paintings of ancient looking people all along the hallway from the lobby back to our room. It almost felt like they were staring back at us. Kinda creepy. Well, this place is probably older than my gramps.

Beggars can't be choosers. If the place only offers this hotel as its best, we didn't really have a choice.

The room was tiny and cold, which was quite disappointing after a night's stay at the Marriot just the night before.

The Spa treatments though, deserves a thumb up from me.

This was the first time I experienced a body massage and facial in this country. Growing up, I usually have my massages done once a week and facial done once a month. And none after moving to this country, this was definitely a luxury for me now.

The massages they offered here is different in terms of strength, if you don't like mild massages you won't like it. It's totally not your typical Thai lady. But to be fair, it did relieve the stiff neck and shoulders I had.

The facial wasn't spectacular either. More like the beautician applying face cream after face cream, massage then slap on a mask. But it felt really relaxing from beginning till the end of the treatment.

I went to Colombo, Sri Lanka when I was 23..

Written on the 23.06.2008

I was made fun of when I told everyone I was flying back to Malaysia from UK with Sri Lanka Airlines. I can honestly say the trip back was awesome. Sure, I did take a day longer than others to reach Malaysia but my 23 hours transit in Colombo for a day was really really worth it. Why would I visit Colombo otherwise right?

Peter and I get to try the local food.

And maybe some international food...

Peter is my baby brother from Miri.

Excited to go home!

The resort that the airline put us up for the transit was beautiful. Sucks I can't remember the name of the resort now.

More food!

The bed was comfy though there were mosquitoes at night.

The beach by the resort.

Pool area.

We took a walk at the beach before sunset. We joked about how we ended up there with the wrong partner wtf. But I love my baby bro. So, holidays with him will always be pretty awesome.

The Sri Lanka Airlines' cabin crew were very polite and helpful. And the seats in their economy class is quite spacious...well, at least it's more spacious than KLM.

To be fair, maybe I did not have any expectations for them because when I went to the UK for the first time, I flew with KLM and it was awful. I hated it so much. Everyone had to share one TV throughout the 7 + 7 hours flight.

This was definitely way better. Even their airplane food was great.

Well done Sri Lanka Airlines =)
